Sure, but may I point out that the modem should have some protection
against phone line overvoltage to protect itself, which would work both
ways? And have you ever seen a plugpack which was not double-insulated
(the two nested squares) to protect the plugpack user? It's probably
illegal not to, and that has little to do with Telecom.
