Hello CLUG Members, It is tidy-up time again, and I have a pile of computer hardware looking for a good home. It is all more or less vintage, and while most of it is somehow working, some parts may be incomplete or defective. As I do not have a detailed list (yet), here is a rough one -- if you are interested in anything please email me off list with your questions or give me a call, and I will have a closer look and let you know more precisely. So here goes:
* One Sun Sparc 5, with several SCSI interface cards, CD-ROM, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and IIRC running a two-year old Debian Linux, probably all working * One Sun Sparc 4, unknown state * One Sparc Ultra Creator 1 with CD-ROM drive, goes into the boot screen all right, but might not have a bootable OS on the disks (but there are two disks) * A couple of Sun colour monitors, 19 or 21 inch, same age as the pizza boxes above * One older VGA monitor (15 inch, maybe), working in principle, but there is a burnt-in rectangular pattern from an old DOS-based application around the screen centre, and the image definition is not very sharp. So this is not suitable for any longer work, but probably ok as the quick-look-once-per-week monitor for some server machine in a dark and remote corner. * One more older VGA monitor, similar condition as the one above, but instead of the burnt-in pattern this one has some flicker. I have used it over the past few years to install several SUSE 9 & 10 systems, but would not use it for any continuous work. * A HP ScanJet 6300 Scanner, likely to be defective. It powers up all right, and my SCSI adapter sees something of it as well, but my SUSE 10.1 does not find anything. When holding down any of the buttons on the front, the SCSI ID setting LED on the inside starts to flash as described in the manual. The scanner lamp also comes on all right. So it may be working, or it may be repairable, but I do not have the time to look at it more closely. Alternatively, it might provide some parts for a mechatronics / robotics project. No cables included. * A number of PC cards, many ISA / EISA, fewer PCI. There are multiple I/O cards (serial & parallel), graphics adapters (mostly VGA), and probably some other cards. I do not expect anyone to take the whole lot (prove me wrong!), so if you are only interested in a Sun monitor that's fine. Kind regards, Helmut. +----------------+ | Helmut Walle | | [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | 03 - 388 39 54 | +----------------+
