I'm a big apple and iPod fan - they produce some really nice hardware [and software]. The Nano's are lovely and I really like the iPod interface, but if you're looking to run free formats, the iRiver is probably a better choice. Not sure about any of the software to access them - gtkpod is ok, and iPod support is now available on Rhythmbox, and things like Banshee. I don't know anything about the other players. Glynn
