But not any more :)
No ill intent. I don't actually care.

I was sceptical about Novell purchasing SUSE, but it certainly had its
upsides. Unfortunately nothing much seems to go any more these days
without a large uncle sam company. :(

> I am sad to see an once brilliant distribution come to this.

Me too, but I'm more varied in opinion about it. Some things are better,
some are worse. Which distro for example gives you a usable desktop
search? SUSE 10.1 does. It's been one of the top feature requests I
understand, and come to think of it it's not surprising. When people
need MyFiles Myphotos Myanything to find their stuff again on a 10GB
disk, a 250GB disk needs a new approach. In other words, SUSE is
tackling user problems, but some of the solutions are lousy. As far as I
can see, it's Novell pushing that ximian gnome mono stuff (those words
are equivalent to a large degree), just because they own ximian and not
using it "would look bad". Though I suppose if you like gnome...

But that's on the by-the-by. I'll look at 10.2 and then decide whether
to look more seriously at alternatives (I've been keeping my eyes open).
Having worked recently with Debian I can see its good sides, but overall
I'm unimpressed. Too archaic, 10 years behind SUSE in places.

> If I were you, I'd read the press release, and then read it again,

I glanced over it, even quoting a passage saying cash is going *to*
Novell. How about you summarise it for all of us? If you make a good job
you'd do us a favour.
