I've had a bit more of a think, and from your description I can't help but wonder if you are seeing a screensaver image, either stuck or perhaps moving very slowly?
I would also be very helpful to us if you could tell us what hardware you are running SuSE on, and whether either a LiveCD - Knoppix or the SuSE install / rescue disk works? Also are you able to eliminate the monitor as being faulty by plugging one of the other ones you have, I'm trying to take finding the fault one step at a time. -- CS
