It looks infinitely prettier when put alongside a GNOME desktop. The key navigation [1] and theming is superior to Thunderbird. Unfortunately though, the bad disconnected IMAP support and stability/performance issues, really count against it. I'd *love* to see Evolution come back from the dead, splitting out the components into their own separate application with evolution-data-server as the backend glue. Involves some serious work, and I just can't see that happening with the Mozilla products becoming the industry standard bit by bit.
