Don,
Congratulations on your honesty.
And I agree, it is so easy to misread the tone of an email or a text. I
used to hate those emoticons, but have found them invaluable for ensuring
my meaning was not taken the wrong way. But even that is not foolproof ( I
must know a few fools!! :-) )
Apologies for top-post, before another war starts! :-)

No, for what it is worth (and I hate feeding trolls) IMHO Rik, you are
once again feeding this list with drivel which may tend to put some
people off the list.
As I said above, this may only be my opinion but I believe that it is
time for you to get off your paranoiac high horse and stop wasting my time.
Could be time I set up another mail filter but I will await others'
opinions (and maybe support first).
I tend to agree Rob, I've proven that I'm a sucker for being drawn in to
this stuff.
What's worse, is I end up making a bigger fool of myself than anything else.
It happens to the best of us, there is no need to keep bringing it to the
forefront as a slinging match.
John summed it up very well one day... What we think we say in an email
and what the other understands is not always the same. The reader doesn't
always hear the 'tone' that we think we're using.
10 people thinking they're being light hearted and funny actually has the
opposite effect on me personally after a while - yes!, I've made a jerk
out of myself on this list as a result of feeling put apon.
However, people on this list forgive and forget. Most of you are mature
enough to understand the dynamics of lists.
As many of you know, personally I'm bipolar, there is a reason why I'm
easily tipped over that edge.
Frankly right now I'm wondering how many other people on this list also
have perfectly legitimate mental health issues that cause them to loose
the plot from time to time.
Rob, I would urge you not to filter Rik out. Personally I haven't.
However I do resist the urge to respond to any of his comments and just
read what he has to say when I feel inclined.
Filtering people out isn't the answer.
Cheers Don
