The polling interval should not affect the speed of the pointer. Mouse movements are measured in units called 'mickeys' (believe it or not). The mouse is not polled, but instead generates data at a selected rate (for example 40 reports/s or 80 reports/s or other values). Motion that occurs during a sampling period is accumulated and reported at the next interval. Therefore a mouse moving at a constant 160 mickeys/s (in one axis, say) will report 40 packets of 4 mickeys or 80 packets of 2 mickeys each in one second. This is for PS/2 mice, but in general it applies to USB mice too. Andrew
