Seems like you too missed the point of reading the data from stdin for *CHECKING*, not *CHECKSUM GENERATION*... ;) The test case is this: echo bla | md5sum >checksum.md5 echo bla | md5sum -c checksum.md5 Volker -- Volker Kuhlmann is list0570 with the domain in header http://volker.dnsalias.net/ Please do not CC list postings to me.
