I don't think it's possible for an independent person to get
funding to teach anything very much. The Govt. doesn't seem to want
our children to be either knowledgeble or skilled. That's my
observation anyway.
Umm we tried (and still reply heavily on) a plethora of private
secondary and tertiary education providers. We ended up with:
* providers taking a lot of money for things like people loading a CD
into their computer and letting it dial home to CPIT
That really was corruption of the first water. What really is shocking
is that the perps. of that little lark are still going to bed in their
own beds.
* providers getting subsidised to teach twilight golf, macrame,
barbeque cooking, etc.
Basically all that is, is baby sitting to keep the clientelle off the
streets and getting up to mischief.
Who else are you suggesting needs an injection of public money to
teach worthless courses, with no teaching background or
qualifications?
Nobody. I too would like to see an end to the horde of Private Tertiary
Establishments. Promptly! I wholeheartedly agree that there certainly
has been a lot of - frankly - corruption going on.
The most important sector which needs a good going over is the ordinary
state schools. The primary ones in particular urgently need well
educated and knowledgeble teachers. The pay needs to be sufficient to
find people who are able to engage the more gifted and intelligent
pupils who might then might actually achieve to a level commensurate
with their intellectual abilities. The whole country would benefit.
I'd better stop there before I get really into a flow of prose and say
something which will get me into trouble.
