checkinstall is your friend. Run "checkinstall" at the point where you would normally run "make install" and it will build you a .deb, an .rpm or a .tgz , which you can then install with your favourite package manager, or copy to another system for installation there. http://asic-linux.com.mx/~izto/checkinstall/ Wayne
