Let's be pragmatic here. Dust the old cdrom drive from the bottom drawer off again and hook it into the box temporarily. You don't even have to screw it down, just make sure it doesn't touch anything else electric. Empty space in the bottom of tower cases is good for this. Boot a live CD (sorry no DVD here), and use your DVD for burning. Or stay with the ethernet cable...
