Correct. I'd stay clear of all the brand PCs like Dell, HP, IBM if possible unless they have guaranteed Linux compatibility using only distro-supplied open source software. There's a distinct possibility of buying shares in a big time waster with all the proprietory hardware in BrandPC(TM). And just because Brand Model X123 had a graphics card yesterday which happened to have a chip which works with Linux, doesn't mean the same model box will have the same chip today. With off-the-shelf components you at least have control over what you're getting (into).
