The Google Summer of Code is on again, applications for mentoring
organizations via the GSoC web app between March 5-12, 2007.

http://code.google.com/soc/

Basically as I see it
 - a mentoring organization can agree to mentor
 - a project capable of being done by a Summer Student
 - that would benefit the OSS community in general,
then Google offers to pay the wages of the Summer Student.

I'm rattling cages here at Tait's to see if anybody has a suitable
project to mentor.

Another way of looking at it is....

If there is a Student out there
 - with a pet OSS project
 - that you're sure Tait's would benefit from,
tell me and I will ask around and try and find you a mentor within the
organization.

Key OSS technologies for us are gcc, gdb, binutils, newlib, embedded
linux, cvs, tkcvs, tortoisesvn, ubuntu, networked file systems, svn,
ecos, emacs, ruby, python, leon, nios, ...

Of course standard disclaimers apply... (I will give it a try, can't
promise success, this is my personal view...)
