Are you able to ping www.google.co.nz from the firewall? If so, then you're on
the internet and we can stop worrying about that.

No, I can't ping any internet addresses from the firewall.
The firewall has dns settings pointing to Orcon's dns, but it can't
reach them so names are not resolving. (I can't ping orcon's dns of
60.234.1.1)

I can ping the modem (10.0.0.138) from the firewall and the green network.

The modem is getting an adsl connection, logging on and getting an ip
address from orcon. but I can't ping what I think is the internet side
of the modem (60.234.197.91).

Are you using dhcp to configure the networking on your pc's? If so, then you
want the following infomation to be transferred (I'm assuming green subnet,
change if necessary):

Default gateway: IP address of the green network card on the IPCop box
DNS servers: As above (switch on the dns sever on the IPCop box!), and
10.0.0.138

Yep, dhcp on the firewall is working (192.168.1.XXX addresses).
I'll check that I have the dns server on the IPCop box switched on -
it's a fresh install so it will only be on if that's the default. But
that will only be an issue once the firewall can

This should set everything up fine. LEt us know where the problem is - the
firewall or the internal network.

And don't be swayed by people who badmouth IPCop - it does exactly what it does
on the can, is really simple to maintain, and just works once set up.
