Hi Reg, I struggled with getting this working too. Without being able
to tell you reasons why (I just know they work for me), I have these
yast installation sources set up (in addition to DVD etc):

http://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/packman/suse/10.2/
http://packman.iu-bremen.de/suse/10.2
ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-guru/rpm/10.2

I believe you will need w32codec-all and lame added via software
management too. If I recall correctly, last time I had issues getting
amarok to go, I removed it then put back on again. This page may also
be useful:

http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/MP3_on_SUSE_Linux_10.2

which states you also need libxine1 and amarok-xine.

While some of this may be contradictory or duplications or unnecessary
(I'm not sure which bits) this is how I eventually / blindly managed to
get there. The ultimate destination is worth the effort, amarok is the
total music tool in my opinion.

Roger
