4.3p2-9 is the latest version in the Debian stable repositories. Zane's on
4.3p2-8. The fixes in -9 are for an interaction between the GSSAPI support
in ssh and the ssh-krb5 package.
Keeping your system up to date with what the distribution offers is a very
good idea. Building newer versions from upstream should be undertaken only
as a last resort. Why create more work for yourself? Leave it to the smart
and hard working distribution maintainers.
Also, by your own logic, your OpenSSH install is out of date. 4.6p1 is the
latest upstream version.
