Hi,
Yesterday a friend of a friend asked me to take a look at his computer,
a HP Pavilion 510a (~5 years old), which does absolutely nothing when
switched on (...no LEDs light up, no fans, no beeps, no blue smoke, no
sign of life whatsoever).
Nothing's visibly wrong inside the box: there's no dust, the CPU fan is
clean, nothing looks scorched, cables and cards are firmly plugged in.
I _guess_ his power supply has died.
Switches do simply wear out and fuses occasionally do go open for no
apparent reason.
Worth checking both before spending any money. Also, remember:-
Lightening is Lethal to computers, If there was a storm in the area
where said comp. lives that's also a very possible explanation.
IMHO, Simply bin it and get another one from one of the re-cycling
establishments.
There are several in town.
bin the power supply or bin the computer?
