Hi, Yesterday a friend of a friend asked me to take a look at his computer, a HP Pavilion 510a (~5 years old), which does absolutely nothing when switched on (...no LEDs light up, no fans, no beeps, no blue smoke, no sign of life whatsoever).
Nothing's visibly wrong inside the box: there's no dust, the CPU fan is clean, nothing looks scorched, cables and cards are firmly plugged in. I _guess_ his power supply has died. But I'm not much of a hardware person. Can anyone recommend a good and reasonably priced repair shop in Chch? The guy is going to try out Ubuntu once the computer's fixed, so p'raps this isn't too off topic :^) Thanks, -- Timothy Musson FSF Associate Member #1262 http://www.russsoc.org.nz/ http://www.fsf.org/
