Although I've never used it, documentation states that

  ServerAlias *.clug.org.nz *.clug.net.nz

Will ensure that all of clug stays within clug. Which I personally think is the 
way it should be if you're going to honour wildcarding. People would complain 
if they ended up at microsoft.com just because they spelt something wrong, 
wouldn't they??
