Of course it's broken - it's a release candidate - it's intended to be used to see what does not work :-) You're supposed to report back and tell the devels what didm't work for you. Cooker is the development process leading to the next point release which is in freeze as of today. The actual release is probably still about a month away (it's a 6 month release cycle).. Cooker should be regarded as EXPERIMENTAL - UNLESS YOU REALLY DO KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. This means you have to be very familiar with the process of debugging, of reporting and analysing bug reports and contributing to the development process. Your best sources of help are the Mandriva Community Wiki and the Expert and Newbie mailing lists BUT you must understand that you need to supply basic information such as the outputs from dmesg, lspci and even dmidecode for anyone to begin to help. For example, "My window manager doesn't work" just doesn't cut the mustard. I strongly suggest that you at lease subscribe to the Newbie and expert list - they're not high volume lists, (in fact CLUG has much higher message counts in my experience) Subscribe to the lists here: http://wwwnew.mandriva.com/en/mailing_lists John
