Ok, new thread. Here's a salivating announcement, in the inimitable gizmodo style:
<http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/adapters/tiny-bluetooth-adapter-is-mostly-usb-smallest-ever-293856.php> It really is tiny, and mostly works 'out of the box'. I am running Mepis 6.something from April, on a ThinkPad 600X from, er, 1999, and I didn't have to get any new drivers- the Linux BlueTooth stuff 'just worked', but I had to edit /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf and change 'security' from 'auto' to 'user'. I'm going to change that back, to see if it makes any difference as I may have had an unrelated problem. I found a good summary of general BlueTooth things to check/change here: http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/104/C13214/ It cost me about NZ$30 from an electronic chain store called Bic Camera in Tokyo. I suppose I could find out how much it would cost to post one... A
