3 points, 1) If you are making the changes on a live multi-user unix box, you should always use lthe vipw and vigr utilities to change the passwd and group files .
2) I don't think there is any need to copy the douglas file-set to fred unless you want douglas to remain a user after fred has taken over the files. 3) If douglas is going to remain on the system, it might be a good idea to make a douglas+fred group so they can both have convenient access to the files during a transitional hand-over period. -- Sincerely etc. Christopher Sawtell
