NO! don't try apt-get install vmware-server under gutsy! It's not in

And the ONLY dependencies are build-essential and xinetd.
grrrr.... the tech republic page had an error "build essential" -
adept just told me build-essential was NOT installed. So now with
vmware-config.pl I get this far:
/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-vmx: error while loading shared libraries:
libX11.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Please enter your 20-character serial number.
Type XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX or 'Enter' to cancel: 93N8N-YH4F1-2F46Q-4KPA8
/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-vmx: error while loading shared libraries:
libX11.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
The serial number 93N8N-YH4F1-2F46Q-4KPA8 is invalid.
The serial number is fresh from vmware. Trying to start vmware fails
(the taskbar icon appears for a few seconds, eventually it fails to
start).
I already have:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp/vmware-server-distrib# ldconfig -p | grep libX11.so.6
libX11.so.6 (libc6,x86-64) => /usr/lib/libX11.so.6
and MJG tells me
You need to install the i386 versions of the missing libraries,
How? (and I'll start googling)
Steve says there is a 64 bit version of vmware-server - I can't see it on the
vmware site - do you mean 64bit host support is part of the package or that
there is a separate install file in a location I can't find yet?
Cheers,
Roger
