Edimax use a Realtek 8169 chip (so r8169 module I think) and it supports
VLAN tagging and it's cheap.

Hi, I'm looking to put gigabit network cards in a couple of suse 10.2
boxes (among others) and seeking list experience on what
models/chipsets are good/bad. For example DSE have the XH8266
supposedly supporting linux:

Seems to be the only one they have - there are plenty of other gigabit
cards at other vendors of course, however determining linux support is
a little less clear. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Cheers,
