Finally found the problem - its a vcd and mplayer required 'mplayer vcd://2' not 1

Finally produced a vcd which geekzbox can play, but not mplayer (no
sound) or xine (nothing) and the aspect is square, not 4:3.
mplayer & xine & totem can play the original.vcd file video only, no sound

geexbox plays with mplayer so this statement makes no sense.
