Hi Folks,

I recently did a new install of Mandriva 2008.0 on a spare partition. No
problems to speak of with the installation but the modem is a different
story. The current score is 'no modem = useless installation.'

Its a winmodem & has been running for 4 yrs and is fine with Mandriva
2007.1. The src driver is martian-full-20061203( the latest), an update
of what I have been using. It compiles and installs with no error msgs.

Then I run depmod -a = no msgs

Running 'modprobe martian_dev' gives the following ....
FATAL: Error inserting martian_dev
/lib/modules/2.6.22.9-desktop-1mdv/other/martian_dev.ko): Invalid module
format.

I have checked and appear to have the correct kernel sources installed.
Copying files from the earlier compile does not work. Google has not helped.

After 3 days I have run out of ideas, any suggestions please

Barry
