Recent discussion on aptoncd and my experience of it missing some packages led me to investigate.
To cut a long story short, there are some missing deb files on my system. For example there are no /var/cache/apt/archives/openssh* files. Which means they didn't end up on the cd. Now I am positive that there should be files there because: (a) I iinstalled openssh-server after initial setup (ubuntu why isn't it there by default); and (b) I know openssh-* have been updated after I installed, because of the recently well publicized debian and derivatives security fubar. So why aren't the deb files there?
