I am trying to get a VMware virtual machine going on my Kubuntu box.

My honest advice is: "don't even try".

My exp. is that VMware under Linux is that it is an unstable P.O.S.
I had an instance of it running for a very few days, and it then
collapsed utterly.

OTOH VirtualBox just chugged on, and on, and on, .... .

I also run free VMWare server.

We have a lot of Windows apps at work but I wanted to use more Linux. So shrunk the Windows partition using gparted and setup a dual boot SLED. Installed VMWare server and configure with the pl script. Installed the work XP into VM. Haven't had to do any configuration of the networking yet. Also great as have not had to use the dual boot either. Just run the pl script after each kernel update (haven't worked out how to do the compiling manually yet).

Were you running the pl script? Maybe this does the required changes for me for networking? I can't remember if there were networking questions.
