While you're right, the rate is closer to ADSL2, the modem is actually negotiating G.992.5, which is ADSL2+. As far as I am aware, there is no live ADSL2 (not +) equipment in NZ - it was simply skipped over. ADSL2+ can only sustain 24Mbit up to about 900m from the exchange (which is a large part of the reason for the road-side cabinets they're planning). My downstream rate would suggest that I am about 2km from the exchange, or I'm closer but the line is crap for some other reason. -Jasper
