I can recommend the eeepc range, i've got a 701 and 901. the 901 is great.
the 701 is on the slow side, and the 7" screen is unsatisfactory. but the
901 is pretty good for everything i use it for, even games (world of goo,
quake3)

my recommendations:
9"+ screen
intel atom
flash or ssd storage
6 cell battery

places to start: dell mini 10, eeepc family.

oh and i suggest you take note of keyboard sizes/ mouse button placement.
