How about posting short pros and cons to start a discussion?

I tried gnome for some months after having been 100% KDE for some years. No real reason, was just what I was seeing others use when I started coming to clug meetings. And then Volker helped a few of us out one evening, installing SuSE, which was KDE by default.

Some time and a few distros later, I couldn't get something to work after a new release (forget what now - I would typically struggle with one thing or another, or break something and not be able to fix). So I tried gnome, and glad I did, still have it on one machine I use. A good reason to change is simply to get some experience with the different desktop and the slightly different ways of doing the similar things, some different tools. That way after some time you can then make your own decision about which you prefer. And often you can use a KDE tool in gnome anyway, should you like it and choose, and vice versa.

Cheers,
Roger
