I know on my last
install it required a a newer version of ffmpeg and libavformat than
was current on ubuntu at the time. It installed these to /usr/local
instead of the standard ubuntu destination of /usr. This borked a
number of things. I would have modded it down for doing that!
On karmic 9.10 it didn't install any alternative versions of ffmpeg or
libavformat so hopefully everything will work fine.
