Better men than us have claimed that the only point of X is to run
more simultaneous commandlines.

I remember the excitement of getting X up and running the first time
in (I think) redhat 5.0. It was amazing to be able to run all that X
goodness: xterm, xfishtank, xclock, xcalc.
