Hi Andrew,
Use Samba to share the music from your Ubuntu PC. Setting up the
smb.conf is actually dead easy. There is nothing wrong with Samba, in
fact it has particular advantages over NFS for example as well as linux
and windoze friendly.
I'm not a big user of Ubuntu. I bet Ubuntu has some kind of easy setup
tool. Just google "Ubuntu Samba Server" and I'm sure you'll come up with
plenty of hits. Probably lots of hits will come out of the CLUG archive
too ;-)
By the way, I'm not sure that it's good netiquette to crosspost questions.
Cheers,
Michael.

Anyone,
Even though I do know that drive space is cheap, I'd like to try and
implement univerally shared folders for Music, Pictures and Videos on
my recently installed Ubuntu Karmic.
My search queries via Google only found references to people sharing
via samba and not on the local machine.
Any pointers to where I could look would be appreciated.

Andrew
