free indicated virtually no change when the app started exhibiting choppy playback of a WAV file. I killed GWC (the app in question) and opened the WAV in XMMS. XMMS played it without a blip (from KDE, with a remote Xsession running 2 instances of WINE). I'll be passing this tidbit off to the developer, but I'm not sure if it'll help him.
