KDE 3.0.0 compiled using the objprelink switch, runs as fast as kde 2.2.1 compiled without the objprelink switch. KDE 2.2.2 compiled using the objprelink switch runs "nearly" as fast as kde 1.1.2 as supplied with ed240. Therefore, KDE 3.0 is the mother of all pigs... pretty... but very meaty... The sweet spot, without a doubt, is KDE 2.2.2 using objprelink.
