Thanks, but don't think there is a libxml 2.4.17. I looked at Freshmeat and elsewhere. I did find libxml-2.4.17-20020308.src.rpm, but it generates libxml2-2.4.17.tar.gz, which I already installed. Library dependencies are a real mess, or there's something basic which I just don't begin to understand.
