first -- jeez! there's a multitude of ideas here, all of them good. i still wonder what it would take to adapt what we already have from 2.4, how copying the whole cd to a directory, updating the rpms (which, okay, would be a hell of a job), burning it back to cd, and running it, could be made to work.
