How about this, then? In a couple of distributions, when I add a certain ISA NIC, I need to add both the line "modprobe smc-ultra" to /etc/rc.d/rc.modules and add "alias eth0 smc-ultra" to /etc/modules.conf. With Caldera (or Lycoris, that borrows heavily from Caldera) I have been able to do that or simply add the module name to /etc/modules/default. For something like this that the OS is unlikely to automatically find, do I not have to both tell it to load the module and then tell it how to use it in Redhat?
