Well, I like staroffice in it's new form of openoffice (R 1.0.1). The fact of the matter is ms office as well as all look~a~likes are bloatware. The problem I had with the old staroffice (R6) was that as soon as you started staroffice *IT* became your desktop, not an application. MS Turd (Ooops... I mean MS Word) finally has a peer in OpenOffice Writer. As a matter of fact, I do not believe that Turd (Again, so sorry. I mean Word...) is gonna be able to hang with the abilities of Openoffice writer within 2 years (That is, if the development of OpenOffice Writer continues at it's present pace.) Really, the only thing the openoffice crowd needs to do to be 100% competitive with MS Turd is rewrite the font interface so that the introduction of new fonts into openoffice apps does not require mid level abilities regarding how Linux (And UNIX) actually handle ttf's. Also, it's products like openoffice that cause over rated blow hards like Mr. Hollings to blindly sponsor legislation on behalf of MS. As a side note, have you ever noticed that Mr.Hollings speech 0sounds like that rooster in the old warner brothers cartoons...?... You know, the rooster that goes around saying "I say" (with an over pronounced southern accent)at the beginning of every sentence...?.. Now, the WB rooster has been around since the 1940's... So, who copied who? To me, it is apparent that Mr. Hollings copied the rooster. I am absolutely positive that no rooster would *EVER* want to be mistaken for Mr. Hollings in conversation.
