you meant after you installed glibc-2.2.5, your gcc-2.95.3 would no 
longer compile a thing? hmm.. let me try it tonight. do you want me to 
compile a specific package? If not, I would just try proftpd-1.2.6.

COL 3.1 came with glibc-2.2.1.
