I read that, hoping it would not be a problem. Won't a kernel recompile better for me? I got the thing running now on Command line. Turning a few things off from the REDHAT version should be the way to go, and I'll make conservative choices. > There's some issues with DRI causing lockups in certain cards, so >if you have one you can switch with to test, that would be where I would >start. Hmmm...I using an ATI RAGE 128. Seems to work fine, but then again, anything could be happening. I'll have re-read the docs to find another card supported by XF 4.2. I'm going to take a break, and take some time tommorrow to attack this again. > Older versions of X may be using SVGA or common denominator >settings (Caldera) whereas RH may be using a more recent version that >has some more work to be done. > Anyway, start by removing everything possible hardware wise, then >adding back one at a time until it repeats. I did everything else as before. Seems me and Red Hat don't get along :) I'll go back to RH 8.0, and strip the Board's video card first. See what happens. I'll try the kernel recompile first though. >kernels, and 7.3 on XFS is what we're using on production servers now. >If you have the bandwidth to grab the iso's, get them at: >Isn't this fun? <g> Oodles... Thanks very much.
