I've got a sony, but it really shouldn't make that much difference. Try this:

modprobe usbcore 
modprobe usb-uhci
modprobe usb-storage
modprobe fat
modprobe vfat
mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/camera

I use this to make sure I've got the right usb and file system resources loaded
then I mount the camera memory with the last line. Tweak as you need.
