OK. I backed up my current OOo installation (renaming ~/OpenOffice.org1.0.1) 
and re-ran /usr/lib/openoffice/setup

OOo created /OpenOffice.org1.0.1 which contained a 'spadmin', but no 'ooadmin'

But, I was able to select fonts without XFS crashing. I'm holding my breath...
