I have no KNOPPIX at hand, so this is from memory:

In the K-menu you will find a KNOPPIX entry, select (something like) 
"Services", there should be a menu entry like "save files/config to floppy". 
This writes all modified files to a floppy, which can then be used with the 
boot-option "floppy-config".

Under /usr/(s)bin/local is a script knx-hdinstall, which does what its name 
implies.
