I'm running SuSE 8.2 which has gcc-3.3 installed. It is supplied with a 2.4.20 kernel, but heavily patched. I downloaded a vanilla 2.4.20 kernel to roll my own and it wouldn't compile due to the string problems. That's how I discovered it. The 2.4.21 kernel compiles fine. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S.
