I like the SMC routers with the printer and backup modem dialout capability. One potential gotcha, sometimes the cable modem connection to the router needs a crossover cable rather than a straight through.
Didn't observe that with my SMC 7004ABR router/4way switch (both types of cat 5 cables seem to work); it's BTW reliable, cheap, and has a nice web interface which (at least) operates with konqueror and mozilla - but no success with lynx ;-)
