Hi, Group:

My HP DeskJet 694C has gone mad. If I try to print anything, it spits
out paper ad infinitum, until the paper bin is empty, even if I shut
the printer off and turn the computer off.

The only way I can get it to stop, is by booting another distribution.
The problem exists in SuSE 7.1, but not in R.H. 7.1

I tried to remove any remaining print jobs with lprm, but lpq shows
nothing in the que.

I went into the KDE Control Panel and deleted the printer entry. Still
no joy.

Some possibly related observations: I am unable to log out and shut
down cleanly from SuSE. Here are some screen messages while shutting
down:
Failed services in run level 5; switching to run level 0
Shutting down httpd (and here the shutdown stalls). I can't switch to
another v.c. to shut down - the screen is frozen.

I have to switch the power to the computer off to shutdown, and then,
of course, fsck runs when I boot up again into SuSE.

Any ideas appreciated.

Regards,
