If you are still having netscape hang on you, here's something that may
be worth looking into.
I've noticed my NS hangs every time I have a "document contained no
data" error or any error that results in a error box that needs to be
dismissed. I can't surf, can't check mail, dead in the water until I
clear the box, even pages that are currently loading stop. The thing
is, I can tell when one of these errors are coming, because NS hangs a
few seconds before the box comes up.
I was wondering if you had implemented Mike's fix to prevent dial up
triggers where you point your news server at a bogus one with your
domain name. Could periodic checks of a non-existent news server (or
something like this) be the cause?
